What is it? We are finding there is a move away from the faddy, minimalist look that took control of the interior design industry towards the late 90’s with a move towards a more luxurious design ....also known as the Luxe Look. This is a blending of unique styles which previously had always been kept in their separate categories, as this eclectic mix could never find the right platform on which to fuse.

How to achieve the look: The number one rule of thumb with this look is to ensure each element has a partner in a matching style. Place two modern pieces of furniture with a large decadent traditional sofa. The pieces do not have to be high end pieces; you can literally pick them up at op shops or garage sales and mix them in with modern high end pieces that have a timeless quality. What is reappearing in the industry? On the one hand there is a resurgence of luxurious fabrics such as flocked velvet or blended silks and then on the other hand we have natural sustainable linens and hemp which reflects a clear move towards an environmentally friendly design choice. Headboards are being upholstered in gorgeous designer threads whilst gilded mirrors, accessories and lamp stands are infiltrating homes bringing a strong sense of traditional influence back into the modern mix so go bold and gilded to keep up with the current trends.
